The second map will tell you where to find NPC characters. The first map shows exits to other zones. I've prepared three maps for each location. There are more then 10 main levels (+a few underground missions) for you to explore. Here you'll find a complete walkthrough of the singleplayer campaign of the game.
The first chapter of my guide is by far the largest one. Each of these chapters is going to be very important, so I would recommend that you read the entire guide, not only the walkthrough section.
